クリスさんの解説部分の英語はそれほど難しいものではないので意味はつかみやすいのですが、問題はテキスト本文。テキストを見ることなしに聞く一回目は理解度３分の１　５分の１くらいでしょうか。登場人物がそれぞれいろんな出来事を話すので（全体的にはひとつのテーマなんだけど）話の筋を追いかけることができなくて聞き取りも苦労します。知らない単語も多いし、くぐもった話し方の人は聞き取れないし(T_T)

今日は飛行場のセキュリティについて。
グレイさん: 身分証明書を出せと言われた。
リードさん: ９１１以降土踏まず芯の付いた靴は家において来るようになったり、
女性はワイアー入り下着を着なくなった。
高橋さん: 保安検査は大切。
リードさん: 乗客は保安検査に不満
グレイさん: パイロットは周りの人に注意するようにアナウンスしていたが、
今は昔のように雑談もするようになった。
リードさん: 用心しすぎて空港に早く着いてしまった。

話が多岐にわたってません？ちゃんと聞き取れれば問題ないのだと思いますけど・・・。
普段の英語のレッスンの理解は話の流れや表情ににずいぶん助けられているんだなあ、と思います。

Metal shanks
Lots of shoes have metal shanks. That’s a piece of metal in the
arch of your shoe. I think the purpose is to help support your foot.

A seat mate
A seat mate is somebody sitting in the seats near you. You can
use “mate” with other words also, in North American English
anyway. For example, “room mate” or “bunk mate”. The word mate
alone is used I think more in British English or Australian English
than in U.S. English. And in that case it means “friends”
